In this new version of Microsoft Office 2007, Bill Gates decided to add na “x” to the family extension, becoming : .docx .xlsx .pptx.
Unfortunatelly, the reason is yet unknown - probably to avoid online applications compatibility, who knows? - but the result is that older computers, that can run the new Office cant open the x documents in their Offices, such as the 2003.
If you have the Office 2003, you can just download the Compatibility Pack from Windows, but do take into consideration that your Microsoft Office must be original (bought from the stores, with working validation).
For OpenOffice users, just rename the file to .zip and try to open it. Usually works.
For those that still couldnt find a usefull solution, try downloading the free viewers from Microsoft. You can download the Word Document Viewer and the Powerpoint Document Viewer by clicking in those links.
If you couldnt find a solution even after that, try some of the online converters we will be showing up in the next weeks, which are free and fast, but require an Internet connection.
